Modern artist Jackson Pollock was a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. Pollock was widely noticed for his "drip technique" of pouring or splashing liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface. Pollock produced ‘Number 8’ in 1951 using his ‘drip technique’ which involved pouring or splashing household enamels onto a horizontal surface.
