Naismith, Scott (Woodblock)
Award winning Scottish landscape artist Scott Naismith, has been painting full time professionally from his studio in Glasgow since graduation from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2000. He also lectures at the Creative Arts department of West College Scotland, Paisley. Regular exhibits can be found across Scotland as well as in England and the USA. Scott has amassed an incredible following of more than 13000 subscribers and over 1.7 million views on YouTube where he shows demonstration and tuition videos. The many lochs, glens and Isles of the West coast are amongst his favourite subject matter for his vibrant and atmospheric oil paintings of the Scottish Landscape. Scott uses vivid colours in a dynamic application to represent the fast changing light conditions of the West coast of Scotland. The love he has for the Scottish countryside is evident in all his work through an exuberant energy with which he handles the colour with brush and pallet knife. Scott’s recent work concentrates on transitional skies and the many colours involved when light breaks through the cloud. These ever-changing skies from dark to light are a metaphor for optimism and hope.
