Mark Rothko was a Latvian-born American abstract painter and was associated with the American abstract expressionism movement of modern art. Rothko produced ‘No.11 or No.7’ in 1949, a light canvas with blocks of rectangle colour including hues of blue, orange and pink painted horizontally onto the surface.
