Modern artist Jackson Pollock was a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. Pollock was widely noticed for his "drip technique" of pouring or splashing liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface. Pollock produced ‘Number 33’ in 1949 using black industrial enamel which Pollock watered down to create a runny consistency.
