Modern artist Jasper Johns is an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker whose work is mainly associated with abstract expressionism and pop art. In 1954-1955 Johns produced ‘Flag’, inspired by the U.S flag produced using hot wax painting and newsprint collage on three separate canvases. Johns created the painting two years after he was discharged from the US army.
