In 1875 iconic Pre 1900 impressionist painter Pierre Auguste Renoir painted ‘Luncheon of the Boating Party’ which features Renoir’s friends relaxing on a balcony at a restaurant along the river Seine. The painting combining figures, still-life, and landscape in one work and was identified as an excellent piece of French art by critics at the Impressionist Exhibition in 1882.
