Modern artist Egon Schiele was a major 20th century figurative painter from Austria who produced a plethora of vibrant paintings and drawings, the large majority of which depict the nude female form which marked him as an early exponent of expressionism. In 1910 Schiele produced ‘Self Portrait with White Shirt’ depicting himself with unruly hair wearing an oversized white shirt with his hands clenched at his waist.
