Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian modern artist and sculptor who mainly worked in France and in 1919, one year before his death, he produced ‘Self Portrait’. Modigliani depicted himself sat on a chair in front of an easel and like most of his portraits painted an elongated face and neck and almond shaped eye. However he also made reference to his battle with tuberculosis by including his hallowed cheeks, thin lips and pale skin.
