Alphonse Mucha was a Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist who mainly worked in Paris, France. He was a key figurehead of the Art Nouveau movement. Taking up poster design for financial reasons, Mucha eventually established himself as a poster artist known for his distinctly stylised and decorative designs. In 1898 Mucha produced this print of a woman in an artistic dress with a magazine on her lap for the French publisher F. Champenois.
