Tamara de Lempicka was a Polish artist who is best known for her Art Deco portraits and stylised nudes which blend refined cubism with a neoclassical style. In 1932 she produced ‘Sleeping Girl’ which features a beautiful nude woman with golden hair resting her head on her arm. The red lips of the woman underline the light and shadow effects used by De Lempicka but also create a feeling of sensuality.
