This painting by iconic Pre 1900 impressionist painter Pierre Auguste Renoir depicts a large lake in the Haute-Savoie region of France. Pierre Auguste Renoir used a strong colour combination, offsetting the bright greens with contrasting shades of red. Instead of painting more detail in the foreground, Renoir has used broad dabs and brushstrokes to create the impression of blurring, tricking the eye to look deeper into the painting.
