Modern French impressionist artist Paul Cézanne's ‘Sous-Bois' offers a very different interpretation of the French landscape compared to the rest of his oeuvre. Featuring a cluster of trees and branches, Cézanne has represented each leaf as an explosive stroke showcasing details not usually found in an Impressionist painting. Nonetheless, Cézanne has used geometric shapes and horizontal lines, aligning with his desire to retain a sense of structure within his artworks.
