Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian modern artist and sculptor who mainly worked in France. Polish poet and writer Léopold Zborowski became Modigliani’s primary art dealer in his final years as an artist. Between 1916-1919 Modigliani produced three portraits of Zborowski including this depiction of the art dealer wearing a brown suit with his legs crossed looking directly at the viewer. Like most of Modigliani’s portraits, Zborowski has been depicted with and elongated face and neck and almond shaped eyes.
