Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian modern artist and sculptor who mainly worked in France. In 1916 he produced ‘Head of a Young Girl’ which features an unidentified woman wearing a red shirt looking directly at the viewer. Her brown hair and skin are the only features which distinguish her from the burgundy background. Like most of Modigliani’s portraits, the woman has been depicted with an elongated face and neck and almond shaped eyes.
