Painted in 1970, 'Black Pan, Beige Cup on Brown' followed the end of Ulster painter William Scott’s second period of painting purely abstract works. In this painting he has reverted back to painting with his style of flattening the forms. He has added some depth to the piece by adding shade to the mug, although he has left the pan with a striking flat look. Produced in partnership with Tate and the Royal Academy of Arts.
