Modern French impressionist artist Paul Cézanne produced ‘Pot of Primroses and Fruit’. It includes a complex interplay of forms. The pears take on a sculptural roundness pushed forward and projected into the foreground. In contrast the out-turned leaves of the plant reinforce the flatness of the painting, making the still life refute conventional perspective.
