For his first series of paintings, abstract artist and co founder of Orphism art movement Robert Delaunay focused on the view of the ambulatory of the Parisian Goth church Saint-Séverin, located in the Latin quarter of Paris, France. ‘Circle Forms’ charts the modulations of light streaming through the stained-glass windows. Delaunay's attraction to windows was linked to the Symbolist’s use of glass panes as metaphors for the transition from internal to external thoughts.
